This is Rocky, a rescue pekingese who was dumped at a shelter in Missouri just after Christmas in 2007. The person bringing him into the shelter said they found him.

He was named Rock by the shelter employees because of his strong will. He was apparently born with a birth defect where his rear legs are completely straight and he is unable to use them. He does, however, manage to get around by scooting himself. He has an attitude and character that are just amazing and he is a very loving little boy.

When I got him in January 2008, he had an upper respiratory infection, an ear infection and eye ulcers and weighed 2 1/2 pounds and he was believed to be about 3 or 4 months old.

Rocky lives up to his name every day. He is solid as a rock and of a strong nature with a sweet temperment. He will be loved for the rest of his life here at Empress Pekingese.
